TRUCK SAFETY MEASURE ATTACHED TO DRUG BILL

Nov 18, 2024 at 08:18 PM CST

Congressional transportation leaders resolved their differences on a pending truck safety bill and attached it to anti-drug legislation approved by both houses last weekend.

The safety measure would force truckers operating in metropolitan areas to comply with tough federal safety requirements for drivers and their heavy rigs.Traditionally, trucking companies operating exclusively in such commercial zones were exempt from federal safety laws because travel there was considered low risk.
