Big rig crashes into restaurant in Nevada; one man dead Accident killed Nevada man and injured three people Ashley Reynolds, KY3 News, by Curtis Hancock, KY3 News [email protected], [email protected] 9:59 p.m. CDT, October 19, 2012 NEVADA,Mo. -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a semi truck crashed into the Quick Dine restaurant around 5 p.m. Friday, killing Joseph Cole, 54, of Nevada. John Becker of Nevada and Roger Berning of El Dorado Springs suffered serious injuries. Pamela Hoover of Nevada was also injured. Troopers say a car driven by Patrick Crews pulled onto the highway in front of the big rig driven by Daniel Coffman, who swerved and plowed into the restaurant. Neither driver was hurt. Both men are from Nevada. Friends made a makeshift memorial for 54 year old Joseph Cole. "We just want to honor him and show him that we still care about him whether he is here or not. He is still in our hearts," said Jose Gerardo. Friends say Cole was a regular at Quick Dine. He would love to stop by and grab a bite to eat, but most of all, he loved talking to people. The Quick Dine has stood alongside Highway 71 for more than 60 years. A car pulled out in front of a semi on an exit ramp. The driver of the semi tried to swerve and avoid the car, but plowed into the restaurant killing Cole and injuring three other people. The driver of the car who pulled in front of the semi received a ticket for failing to yield. It's possible the driver could face charges by the county prosecutors. Troopers do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved. View Original Post
