What you drivers think about this loads with no rate? Is that because brokers are ashamed of the prices they are paying, or because they dont want their custumers to know thay they keep most of the profit?

Sometimes they want the carrier to drop the anchor first. Aim high

All the above but everything in the dark will come to the light..10 4. For the heart of a man is deceitful and wicked who can know it.

Im really trying to come up with a rebuttle but in all reality, Im on the side of having to battle for higher rates on a constant, reguardless of it being posted or not. Im sure your aware that the cost of everything is going up. unfortuanly it seems like the opposite for rates, especially in hauling grain. however if the loads were posted with rates, it would allow owner ops to plan appropriatly as opposed to a last minute decision to take the load or not and hope that nothing unexpeted comes up on the rout. It would be nice to see the rates. My guess is that the shipper only expects the lowest rates possible but in reality. We are just a small part of a much larger picture. If the rates are not worth it for you, let someone else take it. I know thats not always an option as an owner operator myself. There are always other loads out there to take. I wish you the best.

Its simple, most loads with no rate are open to negotiation. Msg them with your bid and see what could happen. In my sector (tanker) I rarely get affered loads with rates attatched. The tell me what they need done, I tell them what I will charge. In most cases when they leave rate open they are in dire need of coverage and you can name your price. Just my 2 cents.

My first question is since you as a carrier are only authorized to haul in-state North Dakota for hire, why postings wihthout rates would be a concern unless they are loads instate North Dakota?

My answer on posting loads without rates, is rates are negotiable, depending on timing, volume, and relationships.

Anytime your negotiating the party who shows price first loses. Most customer do not spend time looking at rates on here. The real reason is so your competition cant undercut you easily. Rates are closely guarded secret for this reason.

I wish they would make them post the rates.

I wish the carriers would post their rates. They are the ones actually selling something. Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving out my rates to anyone but my customers, but I'd like to know everyone elses rates. Get it? You are selling a service!! Wouldn't it be nice to buy a product or service from someone who has no idea what their selling price is? And YOU can name your price! You just have to listen to them cry a bit.

This used to bother me more than it does now. The pandemic brought on ridiculously high freight rates that attracted LOTS of fly by night brokers and carriers. The result has been a 2 year downturn. I learned to appreciate the good brokers that have been around a while and don't mind the fact that they are protecting their business, even though it's an inconvenience at times.
