Just wondering if anyone has any sure fire ways that help unload DDG, or at least get it started out of a hopper.

A big ASS HAMMER! Take your trailer to the car wash and spray it with high pressure wax, or you can but some basketball's in the hoppers, that way you already have a air pocket.

Heck Dale, learning from your own mistakes is the best and the most fun way to learn. Gives everybody else a good laugh to watch you screw up!

I think its better for us to ask and share our knowledge with each other than laugh at someone elses misfortune. It might work good for our self portrayal in the long run..Thanks for reading

a trick i learned on that "sticky" stuff is when you have your hopper washed out have them spray rain-ex or wax on the inside...i have it done every washout and yet have had to pick up my dead blow...i hauled midds 400 miles opened up my doors and it started flowing....

Dan, I'm curious. How many loads can you haul before you have to have another wax coating put on? How big are your trap doors? Are you having any difficulty getting it started? Because usually, getting it started to flow is where I have the problem. Thanks!

my doors are regualr size no bar in the middle....i usually have them wax it every washout its only $4 extra and i've even hauled cotton seed and it came out on it own...yes the flow is a lil slow at first but by the time i have the whole door open its flowing out just fine...try it and let me know how it works

There is NO sure fire way of getting any product unloaded. We had rigid mount vibrators added to our hoppers and this has helped bunches....Everyone has to find their own way of doing things. Just because it works for one, it may not work for the next. Good Luck! Not all DDGs are bad, usually just the fresh runs, some DO pour out like beans....Happy Trucking :)

The next trailer you buy, make sure it has vibrators!
I fought that stuff, meat and bone, blood, fish, poultry, midds, everything out of my cornhusker.
I bought a triple axle timpte with the big double doors and vibrators and now it unloads itself

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I have been hauling DDG for over a year and just looking for some extra ideas to get material moving. Just wondering do bigger single vibrators work better than multiple small ones? If anyone has any experience please let me know.

To Thomas Flock...You do make valid points. After re-reading Mike's post several times, and considering your perspective, it does make a bit more sense. I do seem to have spoken a bit out of line. My apologizes to both Mike and Dale

Once again, thank you to all that have posted I appreciate all the advice. To adress all of the other slack that has been said. This is the problem with trucking, and every other profession! We all need to work and TALK together. I put out a very simple question, and just read how far things got out of wack. I realize that we are all eachothers competers, but if we learn from eachothers past don"t we all benefit?

Hey chad ive hauled a lot of ddg and it does help to have the super doors but they suck let me tell you. Ive went back to a standerd door and i really dont have that much problems yeah summer time you will but not that bad. there is a few things you can do that helps it. one do not pack in your trailer what ever you get on take it if you pack it down youll be at it all day. another thing is puts some vibrators on and when u mount them put them right on the bottom of trap were the trap mounts to the hopper makes a world of differince. and timpte sell the brakets to. and another thing check the ddg to see how warm it is if its fresh and got heat in it well the vibreators will help but when its hot your gona have problems. the worst ive had getting a load off was 4hrs. so hope that helps you out.

buy a 2" strap with a ratchet, you will need a square round hook(like for a flat bed rail), secure at top rail, drop strap down side of trailer, across trap doors, back up other side and down outside of trailer to the bottom. secure rachet,( rachet tight like a flat bed,of course after ur loaded!!). You will need 2 rachets and strapes, and you can find strapes up to 100 FT on the Web and u can make fit. the key is to cut a line from side to side and get all the product gone and it will flow great. even after a week on trailer. Cornhusker trailers have a lip on each side of trailer to make this easy to attach.

Drop two 10" plastic drain tile tees in each hopper before loading which creates a cavity then when you open the slide door they fall out and when your empty just throw them back in the hopper and you are ready to go again!!!

Doesn't anyone know the power of air??? I have an air hose with a gladhand coupler that attaches to my air supply, a blowoff nozzle and about 6 different attachment for what I am hauling... One is curved and open to loosen the bottom, one is capped and has small holes down the barrel to fluidize, one is an 8' knife, ect... Learn to work with what you have... Clean every time and no unwanted wax... If this were easy my ex wife would be doing it...

Most mills have air, plus by you carrying all this extra weight just raises your tare weight. I couldn't wait for my old TV to blow up so I could lose 40 lbs. If you think I'm being sarcastic Indiana gave me a warning & level 1 inspection for 60 lbs over gross & I loaded using my gauges. They don't realize how hard it is to hit 80 right on plus axle it...Thanks for reading
