Timpte put a thunder on mine. They indicated they have a gear reduction so they are a bit stronger. But also slower. I'm very happy with it though

Thunderstone ! Ran one for years and loved it. Trouble free and serviced by / sold by Timpte dealers and probably by wilson if ever needed. I also ran their electric motors on the trap doors.

I've got a Shurco on one of mine. The mechanical part of it is great. No problems whatsoever. Shurco is terrible for tarp warranty tho. In their minds, they have never made a bad tarp. I prefer 22 oz Sioux City tarps.

+ 1 - 1

We've bought 4 new timpte trailers equipped with thunderstone electric tarps. The first one in 2013 the control box on front of the trailer caught fire and blistered thepaint on the bulkhead. They replaced it a total of 3 more times. I finally traded the trailer. When I ordered the 2015 trailer I asked my dealer if I cuold get a Shurco system, they told me it was not an option. We had to replace control box twice because they melted inside. We have 2 2018 Timpte hoppers with thunderstone electric systems and both have failed within 9 months. We've had to replace all the electronics in both. Thunderstone currently has a crew going across the country replacing these units. That tells me we aren't the only ones having problems. The remote never has worked consistantly on one of the 2018's. Thunderstone has warranteed all the parts, but that doesn't take care of all the dreaded phone calls from 300 plus miles from the shop " My tarp won't work " The aggravation isn't worth it any more. Timpte told us we could not order a trailer witout a tarp, so we'll be trying a Cornhusker the next time. This has been my experience with Thunderstone. We currently have 3 dumps with Shurco systems and had one hopper with a Shurco electric unit and had very few problems with them. No problems with their electronics. Hope this info helps. Good luck!

We have 15 Wilson hoppers with Shurco electric tarps. Have had very little problems with them. Our trailers average 20-25 loads a week so they get used.
