So y'all need to stop complaining about the rates since they are over $5.00 per mile.

Hello Michael, I put together the Market update and yes most OTR loads aren’t going to be over $5.00 a mile. These tables are a product of loads that are 5 miles to 1,000+ that being said especially this time of year with harvest the need to move grain short distances in a timely manner means that rate per mile may increase and for a short load from field to local elevator rate per mile is not a good indicator of revenue. With wait times to unload and short distances ran if you run $5.00 a mile you’d not make enough a day to make it work. These graphs are more of a market trend indicator. I would put more stock in the percent change than I would the actual Dollar/Mile.

Heater fan switch module that was a $300.00 a couple years ago is now $1100.00 at Allstate.

I guess I am not sure where this data comes from, if there is a specialized trailer involved with these rates, or if the product is specailized, but I have not seen rates anywhere near these rates since covid and doubt I will ever see them again. We have several customers who pay 3-4/mile on their loads, and you can be very profitable on these rates, but when they put you into an area that is not your back yard, you will not garner the top rates in that area. At the moment, if you can average 2.50/mile on ALL miles, not just loaded, you will stay profitable. When you start chasing the high dollar freight and nothing else, you end up with bounce miles that are way to high! Only thing I know for sure is that not everything that works for one carrier will work for another. Experience will be your guide and if you find a path to profitability, stay in your lane and work that path!
Just my 2 cents worth, which is only worth a penny in today's market!

From what I've been offered lately I would say rates are slowly starting to improve, along with lower fuel costs... The rates are nowhere near the $6+ a mile Covid rates, but that's ok. It would just be nice to see some sort of balance for a while.
