I pull for a big tanker company and they have a few Petes and are not using them. I would assume that they probably are not that good if they are not using them because they would be a lot lighter than the isx cummins that they are using. They had some Freightliners with Mercedees in the past and they were bad news.

I have a Pete 384 with a ism in it and love it the only thing I've done to it is replace a unit pump. It's a 2009 and we primarily run Mack. We aren't pleased at all With the the Mack MP8. If Petes weren't so exspensive we would Have several more of them. Plus Mack's are so much heavier than a Pete. That's why I'm looking at those particular engines

From what I'm hearing on the PacCar engines.. If you haul over 80,000 they don't like the extra weight and won't last long. They carbon up real bad if you idle them for long periods.. I really hate to say this.. But look at the Detroits. They have some problems. But from what I hear not near as what the others are having.. Also I just found this out last Thursday.. The eurea can't be stored in anything but plastic or stainless as it is very corrosive. .

if you don't have to worry about pollution control i would go with a pre 2003 truck or a new glider kit.

If you're on this page I'm guessing you run 80,000 or empty. That is not the motor for that application, in my opinion. They want that motor to run 1200-1400. Every time you come to a mole hill you're downshifting. I'm getting 5.6-5.8 @65mph.

Good for light loads. Will average around 7 on light loads. 5.5 on 20T or more. Sluggish on hills, in and out of the shop a lot. Stay Away from.

I assume you run this motor in MO getting those types of results? Mostly 90 percent of what I'd be running would be all flat no hills or anything. I am curious as to the performance they'd have over here

Mr. Williams. I know nothing about the motor, but if it would only perform well in a small geographic area would there be any resale for the future? Art Pfluger

Yes once I'd get done with it I'd just make it into a dump truck plenty of resale there in that truck. Looking for lighter trucks than our Mack's. Peterbilt can supply a truck and motor that I'd like to try art that's why I'm so curious about this particular motor

I have a MX13 that was getting 5.5 put a Steinbaur. chip went up 6.1 - 6.2 more power. Was 455 went to 485 didnt help till we went to the Steinbaur. You have 3 settings 10-20-30% they set it at 20% which gives you that much more power.

Roughly about the same in Illinois. Once again I would stay away from because my friend is in and out of the shop all the time. He likes the fuel mileage but hates being down for two-five days at a time, on the average every other month. He wishes he had his 02 Pete back with the Cat that was getting 5.9 - 6.4. He and I agree the best fuel mileage in the world cannot make up for down time.

He runs the PX9 set at around 375 hp. Uses it for shuttle work from Kansas City to St. Louis with a dry van, also uses it to get his grain out of the fields with his hopper. He has already sold it because of the constant problems, he said that he would never buy another Paccar motor, or any other new motor until he sees them run at least 1M or more without any problems. My tech and I go to the dealers quite a bit and look talk to the techs about what is going on. They are all the same with the new REGEN and DEF systems along with the reverse drive assemblies causing nothing but problems. Give it a few years and they may get the problems worked out. By the way you may want to take a look at the new CAT. They seem to be stepping up their game. We were impressed and are watching the companies that are currently running them. So far they are extremely happy.
