I don't have one but I took one for a test drive. Very little power, even bobtailing. If you look on TruckPaper you will find trucks with them sell at a discount.

Have never drove one either, but heard one guy say to another driver. "If you company gives you a truck with a Mercedes engine in it, don't walk, away, RUN! from it." Guess he wasn't impressed with them either.

BEST ENGINE IVE EVER OWNED BY FAR! ITS THE LIGHTEST ENGINE ON THE MARKET AND MY MPG IS AROUND 7 LOADED AND 7.8 EMPTY. IM NOT A SPEED RACER SO THE WHOLE POWER AND GOING FOR TRIPLE DIGITS IN A BIG TRUCK ISNT IMPORTANT TO ME. IF YOUR INTO TAILGATING OR 80-85 MPH ON THE BIG ROAD YOU MAY WANT A CAT OR BIG CUMMINS. IM INTO MAKING MONEY AND SAVING DIESEL AND THE MERCEDES ENGINE HELPS ME DO BOTH.

I have two of them also they are a good lite motor if you ar pulling hoppers, tankers, and end dumps which is what i do. i have two 2006 columbias, one with 600,000 and the other with about 350,000. The first one i didn't have the best luck with right away. At about 150,000 the turbo went out. freightliner took care of it because i still had warranty though. At about 110,000 it cracked all the heads. being i had warranty freightliner took care of it. At about 200,000 my starter gave out, warrnty also took care of that. had problems with egr valve around 200,000. At 417,000 it started seeping coolant from the heads, i took it to Westman Freightliner in Fairmont, Mn. and they completely overhauled my motor free of charge. The maintence department there said mercedees had issues with their head gaskets and now came out with a new and much better one. Now this truck run great and real good power and i have not had any issues with it since the new head gaskets and overhaul. My only word of warning would be if you think you might buy one is just make sure its had the updates done to it as far as head gaskets and egr. i can usually get close to 7mpg on the freeway driving at 65 mph. The freightlinerliner columbia cabs are pretty arodynamic, but they are CHEAP JUNK, lots of raddles, CHEAP PLASTIC DASH BOARDS THAT CRACK, . would rather try out a coronado, classic if they still make them or you can also get mercedees motors in western stars which i think have very well built cabs, just as good as peterbilt and kenworth.

Our company has about 25 of them. One of the most fuel efficient engines we have ever had. Some of the 2005 models had some liner movement issus around 250k and all were covered under warranty. Currently they all have between 600k and 900k miles, and so far we have not had a major engine failure. I wish the MBE 4000 were still available.

NOT SURE IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR NOT. I TOOK MINE TO WESTMANS IN fAIRMONT, MN. BEFORE MY WARRANTY ENDED AND THEY COMPLETELY DID A MAJOR OVERHAUL ON MINE. MINE WAS DOING THE SAME THING AS YOURS LEAKING COOLANT FROM THE HEADS. GRADY IS THE NAME OF THE MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR THERE MAYBE HE COULD BE OF HELP TO YOU.
