HEY GUYS. FIRST TIME POSTING ON HERE BUT ENJOY ALL THE HELPFUL KNOWLEDGE ON THE OTHER POSTS. WE HAUL MAINLY CONCRETE POWDER IN OUR PNEUMATIC TRIALERS. WE ARE NEWER TO THIS AND ITS ONLY OUR SECOND SEASON. WE HAUL MOSTLY FOR ROAD CREWS AND IT CAN BE VERY STREAKY IN DEMAND. ALL OUT FOR A MONTH AND THEN OFF FOR A WEEK OR SO AND BACK AND FORTH. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR OTHER MATERIALS TO HAUL IN BETWEEN AND DURING OUR WINTER MONTHS WHEN CONRETE POWDER IS VERY MINIMAL. I AM JUST NOT SURE WHAT MATERIALS CAN BE HAULED WITHOUT HAVING TO CLEAN TRAILER IN BETWEEN OR EVEN WHERE TO HAVE A TRAILER CLEANED TO REMOVE CONCRETE POWDER. AGAIN I AM NEWER TO THIS AND JUST WANTING SOME HELPFUL ADVICE, SO HOPEFULLY NO RUDE COMMENTS LOL.

YOU CAN NOT haul other loads without having the trailer washed out. If you've hauled cement in your trailer for a year YOU HAVE A CEMENT TRAILER and that's it. Unless you have a customer that states specifically in writing that it isn't an issue. Cement is unloaded with the aerator. Which means cement will be stuck to ceiling on the inside of the trailer. Everytime you unload some of the old product will flake off into the current load. Pneumatics should be washed out between loads, products and customers. Even if you're moving the same product. Cement is the worst thing you can haul if you want to haul multiple things.

You can haul cement & fly ash without a washout that’s about it. I haul them both in my pneumatic trailers.

Where are you located? Wash outs on cement trailers are pretty effective, but there will still be some hard spots that have built up. You won’t be able to run clean products like food grade or plastic, but they require different size trailers with different piping anyway. After a washout out, you can likely still haul a variety of dirty products most commonly used in building materials- gypsum, sand, calcium carbonate, etc.. Do be transparent and tell the customer (in email so it’s on record) what it hauled previously and provide wash out receipts. You can DM me directly if you’d like- I’m always happy to talk pneumatics.
