Just put out your sign and go. Get all your licenses and insurance in place first.

This is dependant on your location. Each State has it's own rules and regulations. Start with your State EPA website and make a phone call or two or 10 to figure out who has the answers you are looking for. There is of course the Federal EPA that has certian regulations as well as far as grey water/black water, etc. that you will have to follow. Your State, County, City will more than likely also have additional regulations regarding this. To be compliant with Safe Food/Safe Feed I am pretty sure you will need to be a "certified EPA washout facility." I would suggest that you start with your local government facilities and get their regulations prior to going higher, typically your local rules will be more stringent than the federal rules (Sate, County, City governements can ADD to the rules but can not take away from them).

Like Brent is saying, you need to have everything in place. If you start washing out trailers without everything set up you will find yourself paying the consequences later. You will need to check out the rules and regulations as to your area. You will need to have your General Liability in place, you will need to establish your business license with the city, county, state if needed. Any other certifications that are needed EPA/ FDA and so on and so on. While just washing out hoppers sounds like an easy thing to start, if done wrong you will end up spending more money in fines than it is worth. It is a good business idea though, so don't get dicouraged by the extra setup work that you have to do.

Looking at the EPA website I my need a waste water discarge permit. I remembered a good friend of mine is the county soil and water guy. He"s going to check it out for me. I dont see anything on from the FDA about being "certified" to wash grain trailers. So i guess all these places that claim to be "cerified" are a joke. I guess if i set it up as a business than ill have to regiser with the secutary of the state just like i do my tucking business.(another $200 a year)

The extra setup work is no big deal. I did it all for my trucking company. From setting up the llc online to getting my own operating authority. I dont use other services to fill out forms that i can do myself. I now have too sets of trucks to keep up with farm and company. The closest IRP / DMV / IFTA office is 3 hours away I learned real fast to have my stuff together when I go up there.
