I don't know about their commodity side but the feed side has a lot of red tape. They wanted us to be their back up plan when their regular carriers were full. We had a 35 page document to read on safety and loading percedures to sign. They sent us a film for our drivers to watch,..and today we found out that they will only put 40 bags on a pallet. In our straight bag/bulk trucks haul 10 pallets and we like to put 60 on a pallet to get our 15 ton load. Know we can only put 10 ton on,..when you charge by the ton that extra 5 goes a long way. Like I say I don't know about their grain side but if it's like the feed side make sure you have plenty of ink to sign all the paperwork.

Cargill has gone to requiring that you show them the tickets on the load you hauled prior to hauling their load. If you didn't wash out the trailer and they question what your previous load was, they will reject your load and you have very limited recourse. Land O lakes/Purina is very similiar in their requirements. They claim better control of cross contamination in doing this which i suppose is accurate but if you are hauling a grain such as spelt, and the manager of the facility has no idea what that product is, prior to hauling a Cargill load, trying to explain your previous load is quite a task. Most of them feel they are entirely too busy to "google" the product and find out what it is. I have had that problem in several Cargill locations. Trying to get a point across to their corporate people is even more frustrating. They know it all and if they don't know it, it must not be worth knowing. Good luck. Hauling for Cargill, especially the Feed side can be an adventure in patience and frustration.

Everyone is getting tough on their regulations not just Cargill and LOL/Purina. We all need to make sure all loads pay enough to go that extra mile for each vendor. This is a service industry and I think that idea has gotten away from the bulk of the people in this industry. Everyone I deal with needs to have that in mind before rate period because I do. Everyday I lose more money trying to do a great job on each load than I make. Once in a while a vendor will call us and say I need to get this done what do you need to get it done, because if your name is on it we know it's done. That's great, but those loads are far and few and shouldn't have to make up for the lesser loads that will be in that round. The lesser loads are why they can't get it done in the first place. In my book who ever I'm hauling for is very best vendor I have because I put my name on that load. I have some very good vendors that I myself have to say no to because no matter how hard i try it's not good enough or there is to much risk involved Cargill/LOL/Purina is not on that list.

They have a corporate website to which they assign you a user name and password. You utilize this site to accept loads, update deliveries, and finalize freight charges.

I can't give you the name of the website. It's one that is internal to Cargill. They have to give it to you.
