  • Compensation will now be a set portion of the revenue from each of Alberty Trucking’s (henceforth abbreviated AT) trips, not by time or by mileage driven.
  • Drivers commission is 24% of the total revenue AT receives for trips that they take. The dispatcher who organized the trip receives 1% of the total revenue.
  • Note that being based on trip revenue means that drivers are getting 24% of what AT charges the customer, before money is set aside to pay for fuel, insurance, and all other operating expenses.
  • AT will no longer pay hourly for things like pre and post-trip inspections, signing BOLs, or any other aspects of fulfilling the delivery, to include preparing and unloading hoses—those responsibilities are part of the job that you’re receiving a 24% share for.
  • The old demurrage policy still applies: if a driver arrives on time and is left waiting for more than two hours past the scheduled delivery time, AT will charge $75/hr to the customer. This gets added into the trip’s revenue, so it is in the best interest of drivers to ensure demurrage is collected whenever applicable.
  • Upon arrival at any shipment destination, immediately check in at the guard post or office and get your arrival timestamped on the BOL. Likewise, check out when you leave and send the BOL to your dispatcher so that we have a timestamp for your departure as well. This is critical so that they do not claim you were late and so that we can collect demurrage whenever applicable.
  • The intention of this revenue-sharing pay system is to align the motivations of the drivers, dispatchers, and company towards the goal of maximizing profit and efficiency. Better planned trips that combine multiple stops will pay better, and this scheme will reward the driver and dispatcher for such efforts.
  • Drivers are encouraged to think over planned trips and share any ideas they have for improvements to maximize profitability; however, the final decision for all scheduling goes to the dispatchers.
  • Should team driving trips occur, the 24% assigned to drivers will be split between the two drivers. If it is for the purposes of training where a new driver is shadowing a senior driver to see the delivery process, separate arrangements may be made where the new driver is paid hourly for that time.
